Comtrac® is a high-modulus reinforcement material, which can also be combined with a nonwoven.

Comtrac® is manufactured from modern synthetics with low creep and elongation properties to suit any kind of application. Longitudinal and transverse yarns are joined together by a binding thread into a raschel knitted construction.

The advantage of this method of manufacture is that the load carrying elements run in perfectly straight lines and so Comtrac® is able to carry loads with very low elongation. Comtrac® is designed to be used on sites where construction is to take place on ground with low bearing capacity. The immediate load take-up produces a high increase in load-carrying capacity allowing very little settlement. At the same time, the excellent filtration characteristics of Comtrac® ensure that there is no hydraulic water pressure.

Comtrac® product characteristics, especially tensile strength in the longitudinal and transverse directions, can be adjusted to suit the particular application. There are many advantages to be gained by using Comtrac®. Load transfer between roll widths can be provided by sewn joints and large areas can be custom-made in advance to meet the installation plan.

Typical applications:

  • instruction and maintenance of railway embankments
  • load-carrying layers in road construction
  • extra-steep earthwork slopesco using local cohesive soils
  • structural capping of silt lagoons
  • spanning sinkhole areas

Properties:

  • immediate load take-up with low elongation
  • low creep
  • high tensile strength
  • outstanding separation and filtration properties
  • high resistance to mechanical damage during installation
  • easily installed under water

Information about areas of application:
