Grain
Under our climatic conditions, grain crops in a harvestable
condition are seldom fit for immediate storage. If the moisture content of the
grain is higher than 16 %, then steps have to be taken to avoid the crop decaying
during storage.
Air drying, even with cold air, plays a very important role in current
farming practice. Using this process, air is often blown through perforated plates
(slotted plate), steel plate ducts with air outlet openings or under-floor ducts
covered with slotted concrete slabs. To avoid grain getting into these ducts means that
the ducts have to be covered with a drying woven.
Oil-seed rape and seed crops
It is well known that crops like oil-seed rape always have to be
dried after harvesting. To be storable the moisture content has to be below about
9 %. The same drying nonwoven is also suitable for grass seed.
There are three types of drying wovens available.
